Jan Suraaj Party chief Prashant Kishor, who is set to contest the Bankipur Assembly bypoll in Bihar, has declared assets worth nearly Rs 96 crore. In comparison, the combined wealth of him and his wife exceeds Rs 197 crore, according to the election affidavit filed along with his nomination papers.

As per the affidavit filed, the founder of the Jan Suraaj Party has movable assets worth Rs 22.19 crore and immovable properties worth Rs 73.87 crore, summing up to an aggregate amount of around Rs 96 crore in his name.

Meanwhile, his wife Dr Jahnavi Das, who is also a medical practitioner and Senior Advisor (Special Projects) at Apollo Indraprastha Hospital, has shown movable assets of Rs 89.51 crore and immovable assets of Rs 12.42 crore to have total wealth of Rs 101.93 crore.

Together, the couple's assets are valued at more than Rs 197 crore.

Properties and Liabilities

As per the affidavit, he holds two flats in Ghaziabad and has 50 per cent share in two more flats, and plots in Pataliputra Colony in Patna, Vasant Vihar in Delhi, Buxar and his ancestral village.

Besides this, his wife also has two flats, a third stake in a bungalow located in Guwahati and another property in Noida.

Further, Kishor has taken a bank loan of Rs 5.77 crore and his wife has liabilities worth Rs 55.38 lakh, including a personal loan of Rs 50 lakh. His son Daibik has a bank account balance of Rs 7.19 lakh.

Kishor also owns Vedha Venture Private Limited, which donated Rs 85 crore to the Jan Suraaj Party during the 2024-25 financial year.

Criminal Cases

Prashant Kishore has eight criminal cases pending against him in various police stations. These include criminal complaints filed in the courts of Gandhi Maidan, Secretariat, Pirbahor, Saharsa Sadar police station, Bettiah, and West Muzaffarpur.

Charges have not yet been framed in any of the cases, and he has not been convicted in any of them. He has also filed petitions in the Patna High Court in some of the cases.

An MHA-holder, Kishor described his profession as that of a political consultant and an advisor. Kishor was subsequently associated with global bodies such as the United Nations (UN). Additionally, during his career, in 2010, he completed a rigorous French language course at the University of Clermont-Ferrand in France.
