Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijit Dipke on Thursday demanded the resignation of Home Minister Amit Shah over alleged police brutality against protestors on July 20 in Delhi. Dipke's demand came a day after Congress leader and Lok Sabha LoP advised PM Narendra Modi to sack Amit Shah and order a Supreme Court-monitored high-powered investigation.
Dipke further alleged that the police excess was carried out on the orders of Amit Shah. While speaking to the media in Maharashtra's Sambhajinagar, Dipke said, "The way students were attacked, and their blood was shed while they were protesting, could not have happened without Shah’s orders."
Rahul Gandhi's demand for Shah's resignation, SC-monitored probe
Dipke's allegations against Shah were first made by Gandhi in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday, leading to an uproar and disrupting his speech on the anti-paper leak bill.
Seconding Gandhi's demand for Shah's resignation, Dipke said, "I also believe that he should resign." Dipke also dismissed the allegation about CJP receiving foreign funding. Dipke retorted by linking the question of foreign funding to Shah's competence as Home Minister.
He said, "If we are receiving foreign funds despite Shah being at the helm of the home ministry, then it is also his failure. What kind of Chanakya are you then? In that case, he [Shah] should also resign."
Dipke accuses Police of orchestrating stone-pelting
Dipke went on and accused the Delhi Police of orchestrating the stone-pelting to allegedly use it as an excuse for a crackdown against protestors. He alleged that a truck loaded with stones was brought at the protest site by the police on July 20.
"The Delhi Police orchestrated the stone-throwing. BJP [Bharatiya Janata Party] goons arrived, threw stones, and students were blamed," Dipke added.
