India has come down to 125th spot in the Global Passport Index 2026. Despite a slight improvement last year, it remains outside the top 100. From 127th place between 2021 and 2023 to 124 in 2025, the country's ranking has dropped again and it now offers visa-free travel to only 26 destinations.

The Indian passport ranks below Namibia and behind countries like the Philippines, Morocco, and Uzbekistan, while it is ahead of Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan. Indian passport holders can travel to places like Bhutan, Nepal, Jamaica, Macau, Palestine, Tunisia, Angola, and Barbados without a visa or with a visa on arrival. However, they still need visas to enter around 88 countries, including the US, UK, Germany, France, China and the UAE.
