Indian Railways' ticket booking system is about to undergo a major overhaul. The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation is launching a new, modern version of its website starting today, July 15. This new platform aims to make the ticket booking process faster, easier, and more user-friendly, ensuring a smoother experience for passengers every time.
What Are The Highlights Of The New Website?
The biggest highlight of the new IRCTC website is its increased capacity. While the current website can book approximately 32,000 tickets per minute, the new portal will now be able to book over 1,50,000 tickets per minute. This will directly benefit passengers who previously faced problems like slow speeds or website crashes while booking Tatkal tickets. Now booking will be faster and easier than ever before.

Several smart features have been added to the new website:
* The option to select your preferred seat will be available when booking tickets.
* The fare calendar will allow you to view fares for different dates simultaneously.
* The website will now be available in multiple Indian languages.
* Integrated booking facilities will be available for the disabled, students, and patients.
The interface is simple and clean
Major changes have been made to improve the user experience:
* Unnecessary pop-ups and flashing graphics have been removed.
* Repetitive captchas have been reduced.
* The entire booking process has become smoother and simpler.
Complete Information On One Screen
Another major change to the new website is that passengers no longer have to check seat availability separately for different classes, such as Sleeper, AC 3-tier, or AC 2-tier (AC 2, AC 3). Seat availability for all classes will be displayed on a single screen, making it much easier to compare and choose the right option.
Why Was The Change Mandated?
Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced the new website during an event in Rajasthan. He explained that students and passengers had pointed out problems with ticket booking on the existing portal. In light of these complaints, the Railways decided to completely upgrade the system.
