In the latest updates in the investigation into books glorifying terrorism, authorities suspect that education department officials may also be involved in the case in the publication and supply of the content. The team is attempting to identify the individuals involved in writing the content. The development comes two days after the Counter Intelligence Unit in Jammu arrested three publishers for supplying books to government libraries that were allegedly found to contain material glorifying separatists. Sources reported that investigators are scanning computers, hard disks, emails, and mobile phones, according to Jagran.com.

The team is attempting to determine the people involved, finalising the content, and how it reached the government libraries. The cops are also examining financial transactions and connections between various suspects. Furthermore, authorities are probing whether prescribed guidelines were followed during the selection and purchase of the books or if official procedures were deliberately bypassed. Suspects directly or indirectly linked to the case will be summoned for questioning.

What Was The Role Of Publishers?

The CIU arrested three publishers on Sunday in connection to the case. The publishers are identified as Inderpaul from Oberoi Book Service and Amardeep Singh and Girish Arora from the Noida-based Dominant Publishers. All were virtually produced before the court, which granted the police remand to facilitate further investigation into the case, the officials said.

As per the officials, Arora provided the controversial content for the books, while the remaining two published it, Jagran said.

What Are The Controversial Contents?

The books under scanner are 'Personalities and Legends of J&K,' authored by Hilal Ahmad and Santosh Meena and published by Jammu-based Oberoi Book Service; and 'Great Personalities of Jammu and Kashmir,' authored by Sushant Giri and published by the Delhi-based Anurag Prakashan.

On July 4, the counterintelligence unit registered an FIR under Sections 49 (abetment), 61(2) (criminal conspiracy), 152 (endangering the sovereignty, unity, and integrity of India), 196 (promoting enmity and disharmony), and 353 (publishing or circulating false statements, rumors, or reports) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), besides Section 13 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
