In a unique turn of events, a government school teacher from Jharkhand replaced his bike with a horse for government work amid rising rates for petrol and diesel, and it is going viral on social media platforms.
As per the information, Munna Prasad Gupta, posted at the upgraded government high school in Tatidiri, was entrusted with the job of house listing and Census 2027 work in the Panghatwa region. Instead of taking his bike or car, Gupta decided to commute on his horse to travel to the villages falling under the area to complete his survey work.
“Mujhe janganana kaag ke liye makan suchikaran ke liye or najri naksha taiyar karne ke liye Bharat sarkar ke dwara lagaya gaya hai or pertol or diesel ki badti keemat ke karan mai ghode par savar hokar janganana kaag ke liye jaa raha hu. (I have been appointed by the Government of India to prepare house information and sightseeing maps for the Census, and due to rising prices of petrol and diesel, I am going for the census work on a horse,)” Gupta said.
Videos of the teacher commuting through the village lanes in a Census uniform soon began circulating on social media, and it left many users stunned, who are calling it a "desi answer" for soaring petrol and diesel prices.

Gupta said, rising petrol and diesel prices were becoming a challenge for common people and riding a horse was an easy solution to cover the village and its narrow lanes.
The picture, however, has elicited mixed responses from social media users and has attracted users who are commenting humorously. The viral moment comes as Jharkhand conducts the first phase of Census 2027, which began on May 16 and involves large-scale house-listing and housing data collection across the state using digital tools. Around 76,000 officials and employees, including teachers, have been deployed for the exercise.
