Kanwar Yatra Traffic Advisory: The Delhi-Meerut Expressway has been closed to all vehicles on Friday for the Kanwar Yatra. Traffic from Delhi to Meerut and beyond will be diverted at the Dasna Interchange on NH-9 towards Hapur.
Commuters can use the Eastern Peripheral Expressway, Delhi-Dehradun Expressway, and NH-9 as alternatives. Police pfficials expect this to ease heavy vehicle traffic on the Kanwar route.
Kanwariyas Are Increasing In Road
The number of pilgrims for the Kanwar Yatra on Meerut Road is steadily increasing, with both Postal Kanwars returning from Haridwar and regular groups passing through throughout the day. To manage traffic, one lane from Meerut to Delhi has been reserved exclusively for Kanwariyas.
Several routes are closed, and additional police personnel have been deployed at major intersections. Traffic police are constantly monitoring vehicle movement. Traffic officials say that the next two days are the most important for the Kanwar Yatra.
Drivers have been advised to use designated alternative routes instead of Meerut Road and DME to avoid unnecessary traffic jams.
The restrictions will be operational from 8 am. DCP Traffic Triguna Bisen stated that entry of all types of vehicles will be restricted on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway from 8 am on Friday. The number of Kanwariyas is constantly increasing, so this decision has been taken keeping in mind safety and traffic management.
