Former Congress MLA Amaregouda Patil has stirred a massive controversy after he allegedly ‘scolded’ a rape survivor and her father-in-law, who sought his help. In a purported phone conversation between Patil and the rape victim’s kin, the former could be seen chiding the man saying, 'the complaint is a lie. To rape a woman 3-4 people are required. It is not possible for a single man to rape a woman.

He also warned the complainant saying that the victim was bringing disrepute to her family by not speaking the truth.

“Can you clap with just one hand?” the man was heard saying in the unverified audio clip.

Notably, the woman got a rape case registered against Patil’s associate Sanganagouda. The case was filed at the Koppal Women’s Police Station on October 10. When no action was taken against the accused, the victim’s father-in-law dialled the Congress leader for help, as per a report in The Free Press Journal.

This came after Tamil actor Mansoor Ali Khan created controversy by making a derogatory comment against Tamil actress Trisha Krishnan. In a recent interview, Mansoor said he missed the opportunity to carry Trisha to the bedroom just like he did with other actresses in his earlier movies to shoot rape scenes.

Trisha took a strong offence to Mansoor’s statement referring to the former as disrespectful, and misogynistic.

“A recent video has come to my notice where Mr Mansoor Ali Khan has spoken about me in a vile and disgusting manner. I strongly condemn this and find it sexist, disrespectful, misogynistic, repulsive and in bad taste. He can keep wishing but I am grateful never to have shared screen space with someone as pathetic as him and I will make sure it never happens for the rest of my film career as well. People like him bring a bad name to mankind,” she wrote on X.
