Karur Stampede Live: Bomb Threat At Vijay’s Chennai Residence, CM Stalin Says Action After Report Findings

Karur Stampede: A deadly stampede at a rally of TVK chief Vijay claimed 39 lives, including 17 women, 13 men, 4 boys, and 5 girls, leaving several others injured. Postmortems have been completed for 30 victims, and their bodies handed to families, while the remaining are ongoing. Twenty-six injured were treated and discharged from the OPD, and 67 remain admitted to the IPD, with two in critical condition. One patient is being transferred to Madurai Medical College and Hospital for further treatment, while the others are stable.
The stampede likely took place due to suffocation and overcrowding, which was anticipated moments before by the actor-turned-politician as he was seen throwing water bottles at the crowd.
As the situation started to turn ugly, Vijay abruptly ended his address and tried to calm down the crowd. Several people fainted at the site and were brought to the hospital.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and wished a speedy recovery for the injured. Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin also expressed grief over the tragic incident and took immediate action.
