K Kavitha Arrest: BRS leader K Kavitha on Tuesday filed a fresh Writ Petition in the Supreme Court and challenged her ED remand in Delhi's excise policy case. Earlier in the day, she withdrew a plea from the top court against the ED summons. The Enforcement Directorate arrested Kavitha from her residence at Banjara Hills in Hyderabad on Friday evening in a money laundering case in connection with the now-scrapped Delhi excise policy scam.
The plea said the remand order does not adhere to Article 141 which states that the law declared by the Supreme Court shall be binding on all courts within the territory of India. In her plea, Kavitha also challenged section 19 (1) of the PMLA Act.
Earlier, the BRS leader was produced before the Delhi court that sent her to ED custody till March 23. The probe agency had asked for a 10-day remand of Kavitha in connection with the Delhi Excise policy case.

After AAP leaders Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh, the daughter of former Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao, is the third high-profile arrest in the Delhi Excise policy case. Kavitha was questioned by the ED three times last year and again issued a summon this year, but she declined to appear. She skipped the ED summons citing a Supreme Court ruling that allowed her protection from any coercive action.
According to ED, the BRS leader along with other members of the South Group conspired with the top leaders of AAP and paid Rs 100 crore to the Aam Aadmi Party to get favours in the now-scrapped Delhi excise policy. "In exchange for these favours, she was involved in paying Rs 100 crore to the leaders of AAP," the agency said.
So far, over 245 locations across the country including Delhi, Hyderabad, Chennai, Mumbai and other places have been searched by the ED. As many as 15 persons including Manish Sisodia, Sanjay Singh and Vijay Nair from AAP have been arrested in the case so far.
