The investigation into the murder of Ketan Agarwal at Pune's Lohagad Fort has revealed fresh details about the intention of the accused fiancée, Siya, and her boyfriend, Chetan, to make him permanently disabled instead of killing him. They had planned to use it as an excuse to refuse to marry Ketan.

According to a report by Jagran.com, Sia and Chetan were considering several plans to get her Bali trip cancelled, including a robbery and staging an accident in which Ketan would suffer serious injuries.

The duo had also discussed contacting a contract killer to injure Ketan but didn't approach anyone.

Sia, along with Chetan, made a plan that if Ketan becomes disabled forever, then she will convince her family not to marry him.

Attempt to show the death as an accident

Police say that Siya and Chetan initially didn't want to kill Ketan directly. They wanted to make Ketan's death appear to be an accident, leaving no evidence against them. Siya even searched the internet for various methods. Before carrying out the murder, they surveyed Lohgarh Fort and then chose it.

According to a report by The Indian Express, the accused had also visited several similar locations before finalising Lohagad Fort. "Our investigation suggests that before finalising Lohagad Fort as the location where they would execute their plan, Chetan and Siya explored other similar locations in the area, including Tiger Point at Lonavala and other forts near Lonavala, including Visapur, which is next to Lohagad," an officer who is part of the probe was quoted as saying.

The report added that the duo finalised the location sometime before May 31. The police said that Siya visited the site multiple times with Ketan to familiarise herself with the location.

Siya and Chetan even rehearsed the crime days before Ketan’s death in an open space near a club lounge in Pune’s Lulla Nagar area, the report added.

As planned, Siya took her fiancé, Ketan, to Lohgarh Fort on June 14 and, with the help of Chetan, pushed him into a 400-foot-deep gorge. Ketan Agarwal died after falling into the gorge.

Initially, Siya tried to pass it off as an accident, but based on the police investigation and statements of people present at the fort, the police arrested Siya and Chetan on June 23.
