Kolkata Murder: In a frightening incident, a Kolkata woman was killed for rejecting the advances of her brother-in-law. After rejection, the accused identified as Atiur Laskar, first strangled her, then beheaded her, cut her body into three pieces, and then dumped the parts in a garbage vat behind a multi-storey building in south Kolkata's posh Tollygunge neighbourhood.

The woman’s severed head was found on Friday morning in the Regent Park area, concealed in a polythene bag. Locals spotted the bag and promptly alerted the police. Following an investigation, authorities located the torso and lower part of the woman's body near a pond on Saturday.

Following the discovery of a severed head, Kolkata Police’s detective department conducted an extensive search of the area, deploying sniffer dogs to collect more information.

The 35-year-old accused, a construction worker, who is the brother-in-law of the victim, has confessed to killing her. The woman was a domestic helper in the same area. The accused revealed that the motive behind the crime was the woman's repeated rejection of his romantic advances.

The victim, who had been separated from her husband for two years, had been commuting to work daily with Laskar before the tragic incident occurred.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Bidisha Kalita stated that the victim had started avoiding Laskar and had blocked his phone number, which triggered his anger.

After the woman completed her work, the man forced her to accompany him to an under-construction building and strangled her, beheaded her, and dismembered her body into three parts, which he later disposed of in different locations.

The initial examination of the severed head reportedly revealed that the horrific crime had been committed within 12 hours of its discovery. Meanwhile, the police arrested the accused after tracking him in his native village of Basuldanga, in Diamond Harbour in South 24 Parganas district.
