A lawyer expressed her disbelief on social media after one of her juniors informed her about coming in late to the office next day after he had to stay back late. Sharing the screenshot of the message from her junior on social media platform 'X', Ayushi Doshi said that the demand from the employee was "unbelievable". Doshi said she was left "speechless" on receiving the text.
“I can’t believe my junior sent me this. Today’s kids are something else. He stayed late, so now he’s going to show up late to the office to ‘make up’ for it. What a move! I am speechless man," Doshi wrote in her caption. The text from the employee read, “Hi sir and ma’am. I will be coming tomorrow at 11:30 am because I am currently leaving the office at 8:30 pm."
A debate over work-life balance and work ethic began among the netizens as many people came out in his support, saying that the employee did the “right" thing, while many supported Doshi by saying that the youth of the country lacks commitment. "We need to stand for ourselves. No-one is gonna take a stand for you until n unless you stand firm for yourself. And yes life doesn't revolve around offices only, personal & social lives do exist," a user wrote. However, Doshi clarified that the employee had to work late as he wasted his time by being on his phone during the working hours.
“To everyone commenting, let me clarify the situation. He was given a 3-day deadline to complete a task that usually requires at least one full day of work. His working hours were from 10 am to 7 pm, but if he wasn’t able to finish within that time frame, he had to put in barely 1.5 hours to complete the task. The issue is that he’s losing valuable time by being on his phone instead of staying focused on the work. When there’s a deadline to meet, sometimes a bit of extra time is necessary to get everything done!" Doshi clarified.
