An elderly father and his differently-abled daughter lost their lives after a fire suddenly broke out in Chuhar Gali, located at Mahana Singh Chowk under the jurisdiction of the B-Division Police Station. The cause of the fire is reported to be sparks from a bonfire lit for the Lohri festival. Upon receiving the information, seven to eight fire brigade vehicles immediately rushed to the scene.

Rescue Efforts And Initial Chaos

As soon as news of the incident spread, neighbors and the police arrived at the spot and relief operations were initiated immediately. However, the fire had intensified to such an extent that it was extremely difficult to control. The owner of the house was resting on the first floor when the incident occurred. As the fire broke out, the entire family climbed onto the roof and started shouting for help.

Victims Trapped On The First Floor

Initially, the family attempted to extinguish the flames using water from the tank installed on the roof, but the fire continued to spread rapidly. The elderly father and his differently-abled daughter were sleeping on the first floor. Unfortunately, during the blaze, they were unable to get up and escape quickly enough. According to people present at the scene, both died on the spot due to suffocation.

Fire Controlled By 4:00 AM

Neighbors rescued the other family members through the rooftops. The fire was brought under control by 4:00 am. While the family has suffered significant financial loss, the tragedy of losing two members is devastating. The grieving family has appealed to the government for justice and assistance.
