Naidunia Representative, Indore: With the arrival of the monsoon in Madhya Pradesh, travel enthusiasts and nature lovers have a reason to celebrate. The state's iconic 'Patalpani-Kalakund Heritage Train' is ready to hit the tracks once again.
Operations Set To Resume In Early August
According to a report by Naidunia, train services were temporarily suspended to facilitate routine maintenance and essential construction of the Heritage Corridor. With all work now complete, the line is expected to reopen to passengers during the first week of August (between August 1 and 5).
Final Ride In Classic Coaches
This upcoming season likely offers a final chance to experience the journey in the train's traditional coaches, as Indian Railways plans to upgrade the route soon with state-of-the-art, glass-roofed 'Vistadome' coaches.
The Patalpani-Kalakund rail route is known for its breathtaking landscapes. During the journey, passengers enjoy the stunning views of nature and the lush greenery of the valleys while passing through four winding tunnels and 29 sharp curves. Travelling on this route during the monsoon season transforms an ordinary trip into something truly extraordinary. Right from your window seat, you can see the famous Patalpani Falls, emerald-green mountains, and rushing rivers and streams flowing through the valley.
A Look At Fares And Schedule
The heritage train consists of one AC coach and three non-AC coaches featuring comfortable seating arrangements for passengers.
- Fares: Tickets are priced at Rs 265 per person for AC Chair Car and Rs 20 per person for Non-AC Chair Car. Note that you will need to purchase separate tickets for the return journey.
- Timetable: The train departs Patalpani station at 11:05 AM, reaching Kalakund at 1:05 PM. On its return journey, it will leave Kalakund at 3:34 PM and arrive at Patalpani by 4:30 PM.
- Frequency: Initially, the train will operate only on weekends (Saturday and Sunday), after which the number of trips may be increased on passenger demand.
