Naidunia Representative, Raipur: A deep depression over northern Odisha and adjoining Gangetic West Bengal has revived monsoon activity in Chhattisgarh. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light to moderate rain in most areas over the next 48 hours, with heavy to very heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and lightning expected in isolated locations.

Active Weather System Brings Heavy Rains To Madhya Pradesh

Heavy rainfall has been reported across the Raipur, Durg, Bastar, and Bilaspur divisions over the past 24 hours.

- Champa recorded the state's highest rainfall at 110 mm, followed by Janjgir and Akaltara at 90 mm each.

- Nagri, Mainpur, Gurur, Pithora, and Radham received 80 mm each, while several areas, including Bamhnidih, Bodri, Hasaud, and Sakri, registered 70 mm.

- Meanwhile, Raipur city, Mana Airport, Narayanpur, Dondilohara, and Masturi recorded up to 60 mm of rainfall.

- Many other places received 50 mm or more rainfall.

While the state's seasonal rainfall is currently 18 per cent below normal, this active weather system is expected to bridge the deficit in the coming days.

Chhattisgarh Weather Outlook

According to the Meteorological Department, a deep depression over northern Odisha is moving west-northwest. Due to this influence, the monsoon trough remains active, maintaining a persistent moisture content over the state.

This active weather system is expected to bring widespread rainfall to Chhattisgarh over the next two days, with heavy to very heavy rain accompanied by lightning expected in isolated areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to settle around 27 degrees Celsius and 23 degrees Celsius, respectively.

Weather officials have issued an advisory urging the public and farmers to monitor weather warnings and take necessary precautions.
