Mahakumbh Mela 2025 Live Updates: Evening Arti Begins At Triveni Sangam; Over 2.5 Cr Devotees Take Holy Dip On Day 2

Foreign devotees are excited as much about the religious fervour as about the friendliness of devotees, food and the local arrangements. The cold weather is adding to the excitement.

Tracey, who travelled from Israel to attend Maha Kumbh Mela told ANI that she is loving the sights and sounds of Kumbh mela. "Amazing, the people are amazing. The colours are amazing. The religion is amazing, we love it."

Edal, also from Israel, said it's been a wonderful experience. "We have just enjoyed every minute, the people, the place, the food. We have had a dip, a little bit of cold for us." Over 35 million devotees took a holy dip in the Sangam on Tuesday, the day of the first 'Shahi Snan'.

Swami Chidanand Saraswati, the spiritual head of the Rishikesh-based Parmarth Niketan Ashram, performed Sangam Aarti at the Arail Ghat.

As many as 2.50 crore people took the holy dip at Sangam in Prayagraj by 3 pm today, news agency ANI reports citing Uttar Pradesh government.

Around 2 crore devotees have taken a holy dip in the Sangam so far during the first 'Amrit Snan' of Maha Kumbh 2025 on Tuesday. Amrit Abhijat, Uttar Pradesh principal secretary, urban development informed that proper security arrangements have been made. "So far, about 2 crore people have taken a dip. By evening, more than 2.50 crore people will have taken a dip in Sangam," Abhijat was quoted as saying by ANI.

Jagadguru Swami Rambhadracharya has arrived at Triveni Sangam for Amrit Snan on the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti. The disciples could be seen seeking blessing from the religious guru as he arrived. 

1 crore 38 lakh devotees have taken a holy dip in the Sangam till 10.30 am on the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti, ANI reported, citing official sources.

Uttar Pradesh DGP Prashant Kumar said that Sadhus from several Akharas are taking holy dip in Amrit Snan. "Today is the first Amrit Snan of the 2025 Maha Kumbh where Sadhus from several Akharas are taking a holy dip from Brahma Muhurta. Niranjani Akhara, Atal Akhara, Mahanirvani Akhara and Anand Akhara have taken a holy dip...Around 98.20 lakh devotees have taken a holy dip by 7 AM and the numbers must have crossed 1 crore by now," Kumar was quoted as saying by ANI.

Uttar Pradesh government showered flowers on devotees during the Snan Parv at Mahakumbh; joyous devotees chant "Jai Shri Ram".

Mahakumbh 2025: On the occasion of Maha Kumbh 2025, tremendous enthusiasm is being seen among the devotees. With the inauguration today, more than 1.50 crore devotees took a holy dip in the holy Sangam.

This is the strength and greatness of Indian culture...This is neither a rock concert nor a sporting event. Who have people gathered for in such large numbers? For their devotion, for their belief. All government arrangements made here - with the strength of their devotion, PM Modi and CM Yogi, are unfathomable...," said Sadhvi Bhagawati.

"Hearty congratulations to all the saints, Kalpvasis, devotees who have got the chance to take a dip in the Sangam on the auspicious occasion of 'Paush Purnima' in the auspicious festival of humanity 'Mahakumbh 2025'. On the first bathing festival today, 1.50 crore Sanatan believers earned the holy benefit of bathing in the uninterrupted and clean Triveni," said UP CM Yogi Adityanath.

“Till now, around 1 crore devotees have taken a holy dip in Sangam area on the first ‘Amrit snan’ day & start of Mahakumbh 2025. The rush of devotees is continuing at Sangam. Police personnel are present there, drone surveillance is also being done. Underwater drones have also been used for security. Till now, we have received no information about any unpleasant incident taking place in the Prayagraj area and the state. Our all senior officials and the CMO office are monitoring the situation. All arrangements made by the Transport department for devotees coming by road are also operating smoothly. There are no obstacles in the flow of traffic on all roads leading to Prayagraj. Shortcomings which we find in today's arrangements will be worked upon to be improved for tomorrow’s 'Amrit snan',” Kumar was quoted as saying by ANI. 

"Today, there is a festive atmosphere in every corner of the country. From today, Maha Kumbh is starting in Prayagraj. Crores of people are going there for a holy bath. Today, the entire North India including Punjab is filled with the enthusiasm of Lohri. This is the time of many festivals like Uttarayan, Makar Sankranti and Pongal. This time of the year is of Chilla-i-Kalan here in the valley. Tourists from all over the country are reaching here... A few days ago I got the opportunity to lay the foundation stone of your own railway division in Jammu. This was your very old demand. Today I have got the opportunity to hand over the Sonamarg Tunnel to the country. This means that another very old demand of Ladakh of Jammu and Kashmir has been fulfilled today," Modi was quoted as saying by ANI. 

Sangam Nose draws largest gathering of the devotees as they visit all ghats during first holy bath of Maha Kumbh, 2025. The devotees are praising the arrangements made by the administration.

Several of the foreign devotees praised the arrangements made by the government as they take part in the grand religious event. "Seeing real India, I love India," Foreign devotees were quoted as saying by ANI.

DIG Vaibhav Krishna stated that almost 50 lakh devotees have already taken the holy dip. He further assured that all the arrangements have been taken care of by the administration.
"Around 50 lakh people have taken a holy dip so far. Official figures will be released soon. All the arrangements have been taken care of. Crowd regulation is going on. We have enough space for the parking of vehicles. Central and State police forces are deployed here and we are ready to tackle any kind of situation," Krishna was quoted as saying by ANI. 

As the Mahakumbh 2025 commences in the holy city of Prayagraj on Monday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath extended warm greetings on the auspicious occasion of Paush Purnima and welcomed devotees to the grand spiritual gathering.
