Manipur Bomb Attack: One killed and five others were injured after suspected militants detonated a bomb in a residential neighbourhood of Moirang in the Bishnupur district, Manipur on Friday afternoon, authorities said. The deceased was identified as a 70-year-old Meitei man.
There seemed to be a makeshift rocket that crashed into the compound of former chief minister Mairembam Koireng's house.
“The elderly man was preparing for some religious rituals in the compound when the bomb exploded. He died on the spot,” an official said.
The explosion injured five people, including a 13-year-old girl. The rocket crashed around two kilometres from the INA headquarters.
This is the second rocket launched in the district on Friday. Earlier in the day, a rocket was launched from an elevated point in the adjacent hills toward the low-lying residential neighbourhood of Tronglaobi, which is around 45 kilometres from Imphal, the state capital.

The event occurred amid a human chain demonstration organised by the Coordination Committee on Manipur Unity, a forum of Meitei civil society organizations, across Meitei-dominated valley areas in response to recent attacks purportedly carried out by Kuki rebels.
Two Meiteis, including a woman, were murdered and ten others injured in two attacks in Imphal West district on Sunday and Monday.
The Imphal Valley remained mostly closed on Friday as Meitei groups held a human chain protest seeking action against the Kuki terrorists.
