Madhya Pradesh: A 32-year-old married woman died by suicide in Madhya Pradesh’s Chhindwara district after writing a detailed message on her hands and feet using henna, describing the alleged harassment she faced.

According to a report by Jagran.com, the deceased, identified as Preeti Verma from Chanhiyakhurd village, allegedly consumed poison on Friday and passed away during treatment on Saturday evening. Police have photographs of the henna-inked message, which investigators are now treating as crucial evidence in the case.

Woman Succumbed Before Official Statement Could Be Recorded

Preeti consumed poison on Friday and was initially rushed to the district hospital in critical condition. She was later referred to a private medical facility for specialised care. However, due to her deteriorating condition, doctors and officials were unable to record her dying declaration. She died during treatment on Saturday evening.

Speaking to Jagran.com, Chaurai Police Station Officer Mohan Merckole said the victim was not in a condition to give a statement before her death. Consequently, the messages written with henna on her hands and feet have become the most critical evidence in the case.

The police have photographed and videotaped every written word to preserve the text, which will now be sent for forensic examination to guide further investigation.

Marriage History And Family Background

Preliminary investigation into the incident revealed that Preeti married Lakhan Verma in 2013. The couple has a 10-year-old daughter, while their elder son died some time ago dude to an illness.

As a part of the ongoing investigation, the police are currently recording statements from the deceased woman's parents. Investigators are also analysing the husband's mobile phone, call logs, and digital chats to determine if severe harassment or specific circumstances drove her to suicide. Authorities are probing the case from all possible angles.
