If you use Netflix, then be aware! There is a phishing scam going around that aims to steal credit card information and login credentials from unwary subscribers. The warning has been issued by Bitdefender cybersecurity specialists, who have disclosed how the scam deceives consumers into believing that their membership payments have failed.
The "Netflix account suspended" scam has already impacted consumers in more than 23 countries, including the US, Germany, France, Spain, and Australia. Scammers incite victims to visit phony Netflix pages by creating a sense of urgency with fictitious notifications.
Scam's Sneaky Tactic
Phishing messages or SMS suggesting that your Netflix account will be suspended because of a missed payment are sent by scammers. The notification urges you to update your payment information right away and gives a link. When you click on the link, you are taken to a website that appears to be Netflix but isn't. The website asks you to confirm your payment information or log in. The moment you enter your details, the game is done. Your credit card information and Netflix login credentials are now in the hands of the criminals, who can use them for fraud or sell them on the dark web.

Despite their convincing appearance, these messages are all fraudulent. The goal is to frighten you into taking impulsive action.
