Updating personal information on official identity and financial documents is an important step after relocating to a new address. Aadhaar and PAN are among the key documents where keeping address details current can help ensure that government records, financial services and official correspondence remain linked to the correct residential information.

With several services now available online, individuals can initiate these updates without making repeated visits to government offices or service centres. The process, however, is different for Aadhaar and PAN.

While the address on the Aadhaar can be changed online through the UIDAI services with valid address proof, the details on the PAN card can be rectified through the authorised PAN service providers. Here is the process to change the address on both of these documents.

How To Update Address In Aadhaar

Aadhaar holders can request an address update online through the UIDAI's myAadhaar portal. The process requires Aadhaar-based login and OTP verification through the registered mobile number.

To update the address, log in to the myAadhaar portal and select the address-update service. Enter the new residential address and upload a valid proof of address. Check all the details carefully before submitting the request.

Once the request is submitted, an Update Request Number (URN) is generated. This number can be used to track the status of the application.

How To Update Address In PAN

PAN holders can submit a request for correction or changes in PAN details through the authorised Protean or UTIITSL portals.

Select the option for changing or correcting PAN data and enter the required PAN and personal details. Depending on the available verification route, applicants can complete Aadhaar-based e-KYC using an OTP.

Those who do not use the Aadhaar-based route can follow the prescribed PAN correction process and submit the required documents.
