Assam Dancer Death: The death of a 20-year-old Assam student in Andhra Pradesh's Srikakulam district has sent shockwaves among the family members. They have alleged that the deceased, while travelling alone in a train, had informed that she felt unsafe, adding that she was surrounded by drunk men in the compartment. The dead body of Himashri Boro, the deceased, was found later near the railway tracks. The victims family has also alleged negligence by the railway officials, further demanding a detailed probe into the matter.
What Family Said?
As per the family members, Boro boarded the train after participating in a dance competition in Vishakhapatnam. She was heading back ahead of the other participants due to a scheduled examination. However, soon after entering the train, Boro told family members that she felt unsafe. The victim also sent a short video of the compartment to a friend.
"After getting on the train, she called me and another friend of hers, and told us that she was feeling uncomfortable in the coach. There were inebriated men all around, making her feel unsafe," her sister-in-law was quoted as saying by Times of India.
Kins Demand Detailed Probe
The family members lost contact with Boro in the early hours of Wednesday and contacted the Railways for assistance. As per the reports, the officials could not trace Boro despite searching the general and reserved compartments. However, the family members have alleged that they got no conclusive response, adding that they were later informed about her death.
"We never heard back about her being safe. Her body has now been recovered near the railway tracks in Andhra Pradesh. Her two bags have been found intact inside the coach," her sister-in-law said. She further sought a detailed inquiry into the matter and strict action against those responsible.

The officials are recording the statement of the fellow passengers and also examining the CCTV footages of the railway stations through which the train passed.
