Raman Shukla, Patna: Amid the ongoing flood situation in Bihar, Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Wednesday directed officials to identify all flood-affected families and provide ex-gratia assistance of Rs 7,000 to each family before Dussehra.
The Chief Minister conducted an aerial survey of Bagaha and Bathna in Bairia block, Machhargawan in Yogapatti block, and Shivrajpur, Bankatwa, and other nearby flood-affected areas in Nautan block of West Champaran district to assess the situation on the ground.
He also conducted an aerial survey of the damaged embankment in the Haizalpur Panchayat area under Maker block of Saran district. During his journey from Patna to West Champaran, he surveyed the water levels of rivers and flood-affected areas from the air.
The Chief Minister visited the flood relief camp operating on the premises of PM Shri Government Plus Two High School in Bathna, Bairia block.
He reviewed various facilities at the camp, including the community kitchen, medical camp, clean drinking water supply, toilets, animal relief camp, animal shelters, and accommodation arrangements for women and men.

The Chief Minister inspected the temporary Anganwadi children's camp and interacted with the children. At the medical camp, he reviewed the availability of medicines and treatment arrangements.
He also interacted with flood-affected people staying at the relief camp to understand their problems and requirements and directed officials to address their concerns.
The Chief Minister was also briefed on river water levels, the condition of embankments, the number of people affected, distribution of relief materials, rescue operations, and the deployment of NDRF and SDRF personnel.
Meanwhile, the highest flood levels (HFL) have been recorded in Bagaha, Rewa Ghat, Lalganj, and Gopalganj. The water level of the Ganga remains above the danger mark but is gradually receding.
