Jagran Correspondent, Bihta: Following the Jamui harassment incident, another disturbing case has emerged from Bihar, where a minor schoolgirl was allegedly kidnapped, raped, and murdered, with her body subsequently dumped on a railway track.
According to Jagran.com, the victim was a 10th-grade student residing in Pathlautiya village, Bihta, within the Patna district. The incident reportedly occurred three days prior, on September 18, when the student suddenly went missing.
Upon searching, the family discovered that the girl had been abducted by three youths from the village. On September 19, at around 5:00 AM, the Lucknow railway administration informed the family that their child had been found injured on a railway track near Alamnagar.
By the time the family rushed to Lucknow upon receiving the news, the child had already succumbed to her injuries during treatment. After a post-mortem was done, the family returned to Bihta on Monday and filed a formal complaint at the local police station.
The victim's mother submitted an application to the Bihta police station, accusing Shankar Rai, Durga Rai, and Lakshman Kumar, who all are residents of the same village and have been accused of committing the crime and demanding justice for her daughter.
The family alleges the crime was a premeditated conspiracy designed to pass off the murder as a railway accident. Bihta police have taken Lakshman Kumar into custody and are interrogating him.
The incident has sparked widespread outrage across the region. The family is demanding the immediate arrest of the remaining accused and strict legal action against them.
Danapur DSP Amrendra Kumar Jha stated that the police have contacted the Lucknow GRP and are proceeding with investigations based on mobile records, the recovery site, and the post-mortem report.
This tragedy comes at a time when Bihar is already angered over a viral video showing a boy and a girl allegedly being harassed by a group of people on a roadside in Jamui district on September 19.
On Tuesday, two suspects were injured during a police encounter in the Town Police Station area. One suspect has been identified as Nandan Yadav, who sustained a gunshot wound to his leg, while another, Hareram Yadav, suffered a leg fracture during the confrontation.
Nandan Yadav is the prime suspect in the harassment case. A total of six people, including three juveniles, have been arrested thus far. According to police, the two 10th-grade students were returning from coaching classes when a group of youths intercepted them and subjected them to inappropriate behaviour.
