Chhattisgarh Rains: Heavy rainfall over the past 24 hours has led to flood-like conditions in several parts of Chhattisgarh, with the rising water levels of the Kharun River causing waterlogging in villages across the Raipur and Durg districts. The IMD has issued a yellow alert for several districts, along with an orange alert in Korea and Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi for Saturday.

Heavy rainfall has caused water levels in several rivers, including the Indravati, Mahanadi, and Shivnath, to rise, while low-lying areas in several cities and towns are facing waterlogging. Meanwhile, the rising level of the Kharun River has submerged roads and caused waterlogging in several riverside villages.

The Chhattisgarh government has declared a holiday for schools across the state on Saturday amid the heavy rainfall.

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has directed district collectors to remain alert and carry out relief and rescue work in view of the flood and waterlogging situation. He has asked authorities to warn people in time if water levels rise or there is a danger of floods, and people should be moved to safe places immediately, if needed.

The road connecting Raipur to Patan and Durg via Mahadev Ghat has been submerged due to the rising water level, disrupting the movement of commuters.

Heavy Rain Alert in These Districts

The IMD has issued a yellow warning for Raipur, Durg, Bilaspur, Korba, Raigarh, Janjgir-Champa, Surguja, Balrampur, Jashpur, Surajpur, Bastar, Kondagaon, Kanker, Narayanpur, Dhamtari, Gariaband, Mahasamund, Baloda Bazar, Bemetara, Kabirdham, Rajnandgaon, Khairagarh-Chhuikhadan-Gandai, Mohla-Manpur-Ambagarh Chowki, Balod, Mungeli, Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi, Sakti, and Sarangarh-Bilaigarh on September 26.

Meanwhile, flood-like conditions have also been reported in the Amleshwar and Khudmuda villages of Durg district, where water levels have risen significantly. Roads in several areas are no longer visible due to water accumulation, while water has entered many houses, causing difficulties for residents.

Additionally, the Raipur-Bhilai road via Mahadev Ghat has also been affected due to waterlogging. The strong flow of water across the road has disrupted traffic movement, making commuting difficult for people.

For September 27, the IMD has issued a warning for light rain with partly cloudy skies, and one or two spells of rain or thundershowers along with thunderstorms and lightning have been forecast.
