CJP Jantar Mantar Protest: In a fresh affidavit, the Delhi Police has defended its decision to deny permission to the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) for a protest in Delhi on October 10. Delhi Police commissioner Anurag Kumar has stated that the decision was taken to maintain law and order in the national capital. He also stressed that the permission was denied due to the past record of the pressure group, reminding that the city witnessed violence during last CJP's protest on July 20.
Why Permission Was Denied?
While responding to the Supreme Court's contempt notice over the restrictions imposed on October 10, the Delhi police officials maintained that the decisions were essential to maintain law and order. The police argued that the crowd had turned violent in similar demonstrations earlier this month, leaving dozens of officials injured. The commissioner asserted that permission could not be given CJP's history of non-compliance with the law.
"No police administration can permit any breach of public order in the national capital, particularly when a call is given by an organisation with a recent history of mob violence, destruction of public and private property, and incidents resulting in injuries to several individuals and the subsequent events of 6th, 7th and 8th October, 2026," the affidavit stated.

Apology Over Internet Suspension
Union home secretary Govind Mohan issued an unconditional apology before the apex court over the suspension on internet services on October 10. However, he maintained that the authority had no intentions of willful or deliberate non-compliance with the directions of the Supreme Court. Mohan asserted that the decision was essential to prevent the spread of rumours and maintain law and order during the demonstration.
Apart from this, Railway Board chairman Satish Kumar stated that changes were made upon review on October 10 to maintain public order amid the protest.
