Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has stated that parts of several states, including Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are likely to witness more rainfall in the coming days. The coastal parts of the eastern states witnessed significant rainfall earlier on Wednesday as a massive depression over the Bay of Bengal made landfall late last night. The residents have been advised to follow the guidelines and take necessary precautions to avoid any inconveniences.
Heavy Rain Alert For Odisha
The weather department has issued a Red alert for extremely heavy rainfall in several districts of Odisha, including Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Koraput and Malkangiri. Apart from this, heavy to very heavy rainfall is also expected in other regions such as Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Boudh, Subarnapur, Bargarh, Balangir and Nuapada. The continuous rainfall is likely to cause waterlogging in the lower regions, causing inconveniences to the locals.
Andhra Weather Update
As per the advisory, several districts of Andhra Pradesh are facing the risk of flash floods due to the intense rainfall. The weather department has issued flash flood risk for several districts, including Srikakulam, Parvathipuram, Manyam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, Anakapalli, Guntur, Palnadu, NTR, and Alluri Sitharama Raju. It further stated that heavy rain is expected in several districts such as Parvathipuram, Manyam, Alluri Sitharama Raju, Kakinada, Konaseema, East Godavari, West Godavari, and Eluru.
What IMD Said?
"After the landfall, the deep depression is very likely to move northwestwards, initially maintaining intensity of deep depression for next 12 hrs. Thereafter, it is very likely to move north-northwestwards and weaken gradually during the subsequent 24 hours," the IMD informed.
Along with Andhra and Odisha, several other states, including Telangana, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar, and Madhya Pradesh are also likely to witness similar weather conditions in the next two to three days.
