Cyclone Arnab LIVE: Trees Uprooted, Houses And Roads Inundated In Heavy Rains, Severe Winds As Landfall Continues

Cyclone Arnab Live Updates: Very Severe Cyclonic Storm 'Arnab' began its landfall process early on Wednesday morning along the Andhra Pradesh and Yanam coasts. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the storm maintains maximum sustained wind speeds of 125-135 kmph, with gusts reaching 150 kmph. The storm is expected to move northwestwards initially before turning north-northwestwards. In its bulletin, the weather department said, "Landfall process will continue for the next 3 hours."
Cyclone Arnab's landfall point is specified between Bapatla and Visakhapatnam, to the south of Yanam. The surface winds will sustain the current speed before gradually decreasing. The cyclonic storm landfall began with havoc as several trees were uprooted and power lines were snapped across various locations in Andhra Pradesh's Kakinada. The cyclone will impact weather conditions across the region from West Bengal to Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh. The IMD had already issued a major inundation alert, stating that a storm surge of 1.5 to 2.5 metres above astronomical tide would likely submerge low-lying areas of Andhra Pradesh during the next 4 to 5 hours. The maximum peak surge is expected near Kakinada and Yanam in the Puducherry Union Territory.
