Suspicious Object Triggered Alarm
The incident unfolded at the station's security checkpoint during routine X-ray screening. The passenger, wearing a brown T-shirt and blue jeans, is seen entering the security screening area and placing his black backpack for screening.
During screening, dense, suspicious object appeared on the monitor screen. Recognising that his luggage had been flagged, the man pretended to talk casually on his phone while gradually moving toward a women's frisking area, which was empty at that time.
Dramatic Chase Caught On CCTV
All of a sudden, the man made a run and escaped from the checking zone with the black backpack on his shoulder. He fled through the women's frisking zone and immediately ran for the escalator. Two CISF personnel immediately ran after him. While one officer chased him along the escalator, another went down the adjacent stairs to prevent him from escaping.
The security officer reached Exit Gate No. 1 before the suspect, apprehended him with the assistance of a second officer, and escorted him back to the station.

What Happened Next?
Following a notification from the Station Controller, ASI Masum Raza of the Delhi Police arrived at the scene. CISF personnel handed over the suspect, identified as Mohd. Shuaib (or Mohd. Shuaib Alam), a resident of Khalapar, Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh.
Upon examining his belongings, officials recovered approximately 155 grams of a gold powder-like substance concealed inside an undergarment in his backpack.
During preliminary interrogation, Shuaib disclosed that he resides in Malaysia, works in the textile sector, and has an address in Kuala Lumpur. He stated that his wife and two children are Malaysian citizens.
He had arrived in Delhi on October 16, stayed at a hotel in the Jama Masjid area, and was attempting to travel to Lajpat Nagar via the metro when he was intercepted.
Customs authorities were notified but declined to initiate action, stating the matter fell outside their jurisdiction. Due to initial suspicions that the substance might be a narcotic, the Narcotics Department tested the material and confirmed it was not a drug.
Because Shuaib failed to produce any documentary proof of ownership or provide a satisfactory explanation for possessing the gold powder, legal proceedings were initiated against him under the Delhi Police (DP) Act at the Supreme Court Metro Station police station.
