Delhi CJP Protest Updates: Ahead of the CJP protest, Delhi Police has denied permission for the demonstration called by the Cockroach Janta Party and some student organisations against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar at Jantar Mantar on October 10.

Along with deploying heavy security, barricades, and police personnel around Jantar Mantar, Delhi Police has stepped up its preparations, keeping the July 20 protest at Jantar Mantar in mind, during which thousands of protesters took to the streets, resulting in violence and clashes between protesters and security forces.

As part of its preparations, Delhi Police has requested the closure of metro stations, while liquor shops have been ordered to remain shut on October 9 and 10. The Railways has ordered the cancellation of all mail and express trains arriving at and departing from New Delhi and Hazrat Nizamuddin railway stations, citing the possibility of heavy traffic congestion near these stations. In addition, internet restrictions may be imposed, cab-hailing services may be restricted near the protest site, and hotels have reportedly been advised against providing rooms to new guests.

Meanwhile, Delhi Police cited the late submission of the application and violations of rules during a previous demonstration as reasons for not allowing CJP protest.

Police said they received the application seeking permission for the protest on October 7, just three days before the scheduled demonstration. However, according to the rules, such applications must be submitted at least 10 days in advance.

Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita have been imposed at Jantar Mantar to issue orders to prevent potential disturbances.

The protest comes amid allegations against CEC Gyanesh Kumar of voter-list tampering under the guise of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and bypassing his two colleagues to alter Form 6, a key document used to register as a voter.

Here's how Delhi Police is gearing up for CJP protest on October 10

- Delhi Police has requested the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) to shut down 57 metro stations from 9 pm on Friday until Saturday, the day of the CJP protest, citing the likelihood of "unruly mob movement towards sensitive locations."

- The 57 stations include Janpath, Patel Chowk, Central Secretariat, Rajiv Chowk, Mandi House, Barakhamba Road, Supreme Court, Indraprastha, Kashmere Gate, Chandni Chowk, INA, Hauz Khas, Azadpur, Jamia Millia Islamia, Shaheen Bagh, Welcome, and Rohini West.

- An additional 11,000 personnel from the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) are being deployed, bringing the total number of central force personnel in the city to nearly 26,000. This marks one of the largest security deployments in Delhi since the 2020 northeast Delhi riots, Hindustan Times reported.

- In addition, around 20,000 Delhi Police personnel are likely to be deployed. Barricades and vehicle checks have been intensified at all major border points and roads leading into the New Delhi district.

- Police will maintain heightened vigilance at Delhi’s entry points, with officers saying that those suspected of attempting to mobilise crowds could be stopped and detained at the borders.

- All liquor shops in Delhi will remain closed on October 9 and 10 as a preventive measure in view of the CJP protest. Authorities have issued an order directing all licensed outlets to remain shut to maintain public order.

- The Railways has cancelled all trains arriving at and departing from New Delhi and Hazrat Nizamuddin railway stations on Saturday, October 10, from 4 am to 2 pm, citing the possibility of heavy traffic congestion near these stations.

- Hotels, guest houses, and other accommodation facilities in and around Central Delhi have reportedly been asked to remain shut or restrict fresh bookings ahead of the CJP protest.

- Internet restrictions may be imposed at the protest site and nearby key hubs in central Delhi to prevent further mobilisation.

- People recording or livestreaming the protest could face action if they obstruct police operations, violate restrictions, or contribute to unlawful mobilisation.
