Delhi Metro Expansion: Delhi Metro is all set to expand its Green Line with a new interchange at Peeragarhi, which will connect to the upcoming Magenta Line station under Phase 4. This interchange will directly benefit West Delhi commuters and is expected to be ready for passengers by the end of this year.
The new facility will help people traveling between West Delhi neighborhoods such as Peeragarhi, Peeragarhi Village, Udyog Nagar, and Paschim Vihar, while linking the Green and Magenta lines to provide a direct connection between the two corridors.
The interchange is being developed between the existing Peeragarhi station on the Green Line and the upcoming station on the Magenta Line's Krishna Park Extension-Deepali Chowk section under Phase 4 of the Delhi Metro expansion.
All About Peeragarhi's Green Line Metro Exchange Facility
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation stated that around 90 percent of the civil construction at the new station has been completed, with architectural and finishing work currently in progress.
A 160-metre-long foot overbridge will connect the two elevated stations. Built within the paid area of the metro system, this link will allow passengers to switch between the Green and Magenta lines without exiting or purchasing another ticket.
The interchange will connect areas along the Inderlok-Kirti Nagar and Brig Hoshiar Singh corridor with the Magenta Line, which links the western parts of the city with the southern and eastern parts through its Botanical Garden-Majlis Park corridor.
The Magenta Line currently features operational stretches between Botanical Garden and Krishna Park Extension, as well as between Deepali Chowk and Majlis Park.
The Delhi Metro network currently has 31 interchange stations connecting different corridors. With the completion of Phase 4, around 18 more interchange stations are expected to be added, further expanding the network of line-to-line connections.
