Delhi residents will soon have a new Metro corridor connecting Lajpat Nagar with Saket G Block under Phase IV of the Delhi Metro expansion. The approximately 8-km elevated corridor has been approved at an estimated cost of over Rs 400 crore and is aimed at improving connectivity across South Delhi.
The new corridor is expected to streamline daily commutes, reduce dependence on roads and ease congestion by providing a direct public transport link between major residential and commercial areas.
Key Features of the New Metro Line
-Length: Approximately 8 km
-Lajpat Nagar, Andrews Ganj, Greater Kailash-I, Chirag Delhi, Pushpa Bhawan, Saket Court, Pushp Vihar and Saket G Block are the new stations.
-The proposed three-coach trains are designed to carry around 900 passengers per trip, with a capacity of approximately 300 passengers per coach.

Lajpat Nagar to Become an Important Interchange
Lajpat Nagar is expected to emerge as an important interchange point once the new corridor becomes operational. The station will connect the corridor with the existing Violet and Pink lines, as well as the Golden Line, providing commuters with additional interchange options and improving access to different parts of Delhi.
The corridor is expected to make daily travel more convenient for residents of South Delhi by improving connectivity between key residential, commercial and institutional areas.
The foundation stone for two additional corridors under Phase IV of the Delhi Metro project was laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in March 2024 at an event held at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi.
