What Did ACP Manasvi Vashishth Say About His Suspension?

In his Instagram video, Vashishth said the police personnel had openly put forward their concerns during the Sampark Sabha. He expressed confidence that senior officers would act on the issues raised and find a positive solution.

“I am very grateful to all of you. You organised the Sampark Sabha, which I attended, and we got an opportunity to meet and put forward our views openly. I firmly believe that the issues we raised will be acted upon and a positive solution will be found,” he said.

Addressing his suspension, Vashishth said the decision was right and had not broken his morale. He urged fellow police personnel to remain focused and maintain their commitment and resolve.

“The decision to suspend me is correct, and it has not broken my morale. I believe that all of us should remain focused and maintain our commitment and resolve. Suspension is not something very wrong; it is a departmental action. I have complete faith in the system and am confident that there will be a fair inquiry and a fair judgement,” he said.

Why Was ACP Manasvi Vashishth Suspended?

The suspension came a day after Delhi Police personnel gathered outside the Police Headquarters on November 2 to protest against the transfer of Vashishth and Shahdara Station House Officer (SHO) Inspector Arun Kumar.

The two officers were transferred on October 28 following a confrontation between police personnel and lawyers at Shahdara police station on October 23. Advocate Lalit Bansal allegedly sustained a serious head injury during the incident.

The transfers triggered resentment among sections of the police force, with personnel demanding the reinstatement of both officers. Around 100 police personnel initially gathered outside the headquarters, and the gathering later grew to around 500 during a meeting with Police Commissioner Anurag Kumar and other senior officers.

During the Sampark Sabha, police personnel raised concerns about the dignity and safety of officers, their treatment by lawyers and the need for a formal grievance-redressal mechanism. The police commissioner assured them that genuine concerns would be addressed and announced plans to form a Joint Coordination Committee involving representatives of the Bar Council of Delhi and district bar associations.

The MHA suspended Vashishth with immediate effect under Rule 10 of the Central Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1965. The suspension order also directed him not to leave Delhi without prior permission from the competent authority. The order did not specify the detailed grounds for the proposed departmental proceedings.
