The Election Commission's decision to serve notices to 33 lakh voters during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls has caused widespread concern among residents. The notices highlighted various issues, including unmapped names from the previous SIR, name discrepancies, and incorrect age records.
However, Delhi’s Chief Electoral Officer clarified that receiving a notice does not mean a voter’s name will be deleted from the electoral roll. The notices are part of a routine verification process, and no names will be removed without providing electors an opportunity to present their case and issuing a formal, speaking, and appealable order.

Voters who have received notices are needed to submit their responses and relevant documents. The claims and objections process is expected to conclude on September 30, while the disposal of the cases is expected to be completed by October 29.
The final electoral roll for Delhi is scheduled to be published on November 4.
