Delhi Traffic Advisory: The Delhi traffic police on Friday announced multiple restrictions in certain key regions in view of the scheduled 'People Against SIR' march seeking resignation of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar. In a post on X, the authority advised the commuters to not travel near several sites, including Bangla Sahib, Connaught Place, and Jantar Mantar to avoid the rush.

Traffic Police Announce Restrictions

The march is scheduled between Bangla Sahib Gurudwara and Jantar Mantar, with chances of heavy participation of protesters. In its post on X, the authority stated that the restrictions will be imposed for four hours between 1pm and 5 pm. It further advised the commuters to avoid visiting such places, further asking them to maximise the use of public transportation.

"In connection with the anticipated movement of a large number of people from Bangla Sahib Gurudwara towards Jantar Mantar today, traffic diversions will be in place from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM," the traffic police said in a post on X.

Advisory For Commuters:

- The commuters have been advised to avoid travel near Bangla Sahib Gurudwara, Connaught Place, Parliament Street and Jantar Mantar during the protest.
- They should plan their journeys in advance and allow additional time to reach their destinations
- The residents have been asked to use alternative routes to avoid the rush
- They have also been asked to follow traffic advisories and instructions issued by traffic personnel deployed on these routes

The left groups have called a large-scale march in Delhi against the alleged irregularities in functioning of the Election Commission. The protest was called after the Abhijeet Dipke-led Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) was denied to hold demonstrations near Connaught Place and Jantar Mantar.

The protesters are expected to march towards Jantar Mantar amid the heavy security arrangements and seek removal of CEC Gyanesh Kumar amid the SIR row.
