Financial troubles and reported mental distress are among the key aspects being examined in the investigation into the death of a 29-year-old Gurugram man at Noida's Supernova Spira on Saturday.
The deceased, identified as Sambhav Jain, son of Vinay Kumar Jain, was a resident of Tower A, IMT View CGHS in Manesar, Gurugram. According to police, Jain had left his home three days before the incident and stayed at different hotels before checking into an Airbnb at Supernova Spira in Sector 94 on Friday around 3 pm.
Police are examining chats between Jain and his father, which indicate that he was facing financial difficulties. His father had reportedly urged him to return home, but Jain refused.
"We have found a conversation of the deceased with his father over some monetary issue. According to the chats, it appeared that his father insisted he return home, but he refused," Sector 126 SHO Sumnesh Kumar said.
What Happened Before The Incident
Around 11 am on Saturday, Jain reportedly crossed the balcony railing and began walking along the ledge. An AC technician working in an adjacent balcony noticed him and tried to stop him.
The technician and his colleagues reportedly attempted to intervene and persuade Jain to step back. During the interaction, Jain allegedly told them, "I'm depressed," before jumping from the balcony.
A separate police account said the workers tried to prevent him from taking the extreme step, but they could not reach him in time.
Police Check CCTV, Witness Accounts
Following the incident, a team from Sector 126 police station reached the spot and began investigating the circumstances. Police are questioning people who were present near the building and examining CCTV footage from the high-rise and surrounding areas.
A Forensic Science Laboratory team also inspected the scene and collected evidence. The body was sent for an autopsy after his family was informed.
Police are also looking into Jain's recent movements, his stay at different hotels and his conversations with family members to establish what happened in the days leading up to the incident.
Investigation Underway
The police inquiry is examining the financial problems reflected in Jain's chats with his father, his reported statement about being depressed and other circumstances surrounding the incident.
Investigators are also checking whether any additional factors contributed to his distress and are piecing together the sequence of events through CCTV footage and witness statements.
