After a fresh row over irregularities in SIR and an internal rift in the Election Commission of India, the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) on Wednesday announced to cancel all its scheduled programmes and hold a press conference in Delhi on Thursday.

CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke took to X and wrote, 'Election Commission Thik Karo', repurposing their 'School Thik Karo' campaign. Informing about the presser, Dipke quipped, "Gyanesh, it's done, bro."

CJP spokesperson Saurav Das said the CJP would now shift its focus to the functioning of the Election Commission.

In a video message, Das said the CJP could continue with its school campaign for infrastructure, unemployment and examination irregularities, but argued that those efforts would have little impact if people couldn't exercise their right to vote.

"We can do as many School Theek Karos, we can do as many Adivasi School Theek Karos... but nothing is going to help if the final tool that we can use to change our system, the right to vote, is stolen from us," Das said.

Das added that the poll body was compromised and it was stealing people's votes. Emphasising a priority to rectify alleged poll irregularities, Das said, "The fundamental tool to bring change is elections."

Ashutosh Ranka, another CJP leader, also quipped Gyanesh, it's done, bro to tease a major upcoming movement against the CEC.

In a post on X, he said, "In lieu of the recent events concerning the integrity of the ECI, Abhijeet Dipke, Saurav Das and I have cancelled our prior commitments and will be immediately heading to Delhi."

Questions over EC's functioning

The massive row erupted on Wednesday after a report by The Indian Express suggested that Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi had written at least 14 times over 10 months to object to decisions and orders being taken without their knowledge.

The objections were reportedly related to the addition, deletion and restoration of votes in the ongoing SIR process. The report also claimed centralised software access to the electoral roll database.
