Why Employees Are Protesting?
Earlier on October 19, a massive controversy erupted after the Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission (HERC) granted a licence to a private firm to supply electricity in the Gurugram and Nuh districts, adding that the state-owned discoms will continue to operate.
While opposing this decision, the Haryana Electricity Employees and Engineers Joint Struggle Front announced a three-day strike. They clarified that during these hours, no complaint will be considered, and they further warned of an intensified protest if the government did not cancel the licence.
While reacting to the alarming situation, Haryana minister Anil Vij on Friday urged the employees to end the strike and resume work. He stated that the government will meet their representatives, adding that the concerns will be addressed.
