Faridabad residents may face an additional financial burden as the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is developing a 32-km greenfield expressway connecting the city to Noida International Airport. Motorists using the route will have to pay tolls at two locations, near Mohana village and close to the airport.
Toll rates are expected to be finalised soon. The expressway is being built at an estimated cost of Rs 4,600 crore, with 23 km of the stretch falling within Haryana and the remaining 9 km in Uttar Pradesh.
Construction work is already underway, and the proposed toll plazas could add to the expenses of commuters who regularly travel between Faridabad, Ballabhgarh and the airport.
Faridabad Residents Already Pay Tolls At Multiple Locations
Residents of Faridabad currently pay tolls at the Delhi-Badarpur border and Gadpuri, between Faridabad and Palwal. Those using the KGP route pay at the Maujpur toll plaza. Commuters also pay tolls near Mangar on the Faridabad-Gurugram road and near Dhauj on the Ballabhgarh-Sohna road.
The proposed toll plaza near Mohana would add another toll point for residents using the greenfield expressway.
Villagers Near Mohana Likely To Be Affected
Residents of Mohana and nearby villages, including Jalhaka, Chhainsa, Hirapur, Narhawali, Bagarpur, Solda, Bholda, Rajpur, Dostpur, Balai, Thanthri, Amarpur and Kulina, could be particularly affected. Many are expected to use the expressway to travel between their villages, Ballabhgarh and Faridabad, but toll charges could increase their commuting costs.
Nandlal Mohana said NHAI should consider concessions for residents of Mohana and neighbouring villages, as they would increasingly rely on the expressway for quicker travel between Ballabhgarh and Faridabad.
Manoj Atri said residents already pay tolls at several locations while travelling outside the city and urged NHAI to keep the rates affordable to prevent further financial strain.

NHAI Yet To Clarify Toll Exemptions
Dheeraj Singh, project director at NHAI, said toll plazas would be established near Mohana and the airport. However, he said it was too early to comment on possible exemptions for residents of nearby villages.
He added that toll rates and details of any concessions for local residents would be known only after the relevant ministry branch issues a notification.
