Hilly States Weather: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued rain alert for several districts of the hilly states Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh. As per the weather department, along with heavy rain, these regions are also set to experience gusty winds and thunderstorms. The local residents and tourists have been advised to follow the guidelines and plan their travel accordingly to avoid any inconveniences.

Uttarakhand Weather Update

In its advisory, the weather department stated that eight districts of Uttarakhand are set to witness moderate to heavy rainfall on Wednesday. It has issued a yellow alert for Almora, Nainital, Champawat, Dehradun, Tehri, Pauri, Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar districts. The IMD stated that thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds of up to 30 to 40 kilometers per hour are expected in some regions. Apart from this, light to moderate rainfall is also possible in the remaining districts of the state.

Earlier on Tuesday, capital city Dehradun witnessed heavy rainfall throughout the day, leading to waterlogging in the lower regions. The Sahasradhara Road area recorded the highest rainfall of 47 mm. Apart from this, nearby regions, including Maldevta and Mussoorie, also experienced heavy rain on the same day. In the evening hours, Dehradun once again witnessed heavy downpour, lowering the temperature by at least two degrees Celsius.

Himachal Rain Alert

As per the weather department, several parts of Himachal Pradesh are also set to witness similar weather conditions in the coming days. It stated that key tourist areas, including Manali, Kullu, Shimla, Chamba, and Mandi are expected to witness moderate to heavy rainfall till October 11. As per the IMD, the temperature in these regions are likely to drop significantly during the same period of time.

The tourists planning to visit these regions have been advised to stay updated, plan their travel beforehand, and limit their outings during rain to avoid inconveniences.
