Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued rain alert for several regions of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh for the next two days. As per the weather department, along with heavy rainfall, several cities are also set to experience thunderstorms and gusty winds. The temperature in the hilly regions is expected to fall significantly due to the continuous rainfall, the IMD added.

Uttarakhand Weather Update

The weather department has issued a yellow alert for heavy rainfall in Nainital and nearby regions on Thursday. Apart from this, thunderstorms, lightning, and strong gusty winds are expected in other districts, such as Dehradun, Tehri, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Uttarkashi, Champawat, Bageshwar, and Pithoragarh. As per the IMD, gusty winds with speeds of up to 40 to 50 kilometers per hour are also expected during this period.

Himachal Pradesh Rain Alert

In its advisory, the weather department stated that several districts of Himachal Pradesh, including Solan, Shimla, and Sirmaur are likely to witness heavy rainfall and strong surface winds. Apart from this, these regions are also likely to experience thunderstorms at least till October 10. Apart from this, light snowfall is also possible in higher altitude areas.

Advisory Issued For Tourists

The IMD has advised the tourists to follow the guidelines and plan their travel accordingly to avoid the inconveniences. Earlier, five people went missing while trekking in the remote Bara Bhangal Valley in Kangra district. The administration has stated that a team has been deployed to track them, further advising the other tourists to avoid outing during the rain.

Kukumseri in Lahaul-Spiti remained the coldest region of Himachal on Wednesday, recording a minimum temperature of 2.9 degrees Celsius. Apart from this, Keylong recorded 3.7 degrees Celsius, Tabo 4.9 degrees Celsius, Manali 10.1 degrees Celsius, and the capital Shimla recorded 14.5 degrees Celsius.
