IMD Weather Update: Weather conditions across India are likely to remain varied on Monday. While rainfall is expected over several parts of the country, northwest India is likely to witness dry and warm conditions. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast rain and thunderstorms in parts of the east, northeast and south peninsular regions, while the southwest monsoon continues its withdrawal from parts of the country.

Rainfall Forecast

According to the IMD, in northwest India, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand are likely to receive rainfall today. Uttarakhand may also experience isolated thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds, with wind speeds reaching 30-40 kmph and gusting up to 50 kmph. East Uttar Pradesh and Bihar are also likely to witness scattered rainfall.

Rain To Lash West Bengal, Odisha

In east India, rainfall is expected over West Bengal, Odisha, Sikkim and Jharkhand with thunderstorms and lightning. The IMD has also predicted rainfall in Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, and Assam.

In southern India, several states are likely to see rain and thunderstorms. The IMD has forecast rainfall over Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Telangana, and Kerala. Thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds are possible over parts of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Meanwhile, Konkan and Goa are likely to experience hot and humid weather on Monday.

Forecast For Delhi-NCR

The IMD has not predicted significant rainfall activity for Delhi, Haryana, Punjab and West Uttar Pradesh on Monday. In Delhi-NCR, the weather is expected to remain largely calm and dry. The maximum temperature is expected to reach 37 degrees Celsius.

Monsoon Withdrawal Continues

The southwest monsoon is likely to continue its gradual withdrawal from parts of central and western India over the next two to three days. According to the IMD, conditions are becoming favourable for the monsoon to retreat from most parts of Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh. The withdrawal is also expected to extend into parts of Telangana and Karnataka in the coming days.
