IndiGo Fare Hike: Frequent air travelers in India will soon face higher ticket prices. India's largest airline, IndiGo, announced on Monday that it will add extra fuel charges across all domestic and international flights for bookings made from Tuesday.

This development follows an upward revision of distance-based fuel charges for all new bookings, effective at 00:01 hours on October 6, 2026, driven by surging Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) prices.

What IndiGo Said

In an official notification, the airlines said due to continuous rise in fuel prices, with the latest month-on-month increase exceeding 14 per cent, has taken ATF costs to levels that are amongst the highest in the last decade.

"Given that Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) makes up a significant share of airlines' operating costs, this rise is expected to impact airlines'' cost structures and network economics, including those of IndiGo"

In view of the situation, the airline said it has marginally re-calibrated its fuel charges across its domestic as well as international flights.
