Hareram Yadav, one of the accused in the Jamui harassment case, was slapped by a lawyer outside court amid public outrage over the incident. The video of the incident has gone viral on social media, which shows Yadav's face covered with a saffron cloth. As police escorts him towards the car, a lawyer standing nearby slaps him.
"Before being lawyers, we are human beings. We are putting our own sister in that situation. This incident has brought disrepute to Jamui, so I slapped him," said the lawyer who slapped Yadav.
Hareram was brought to the court after being declared fit by a doctor. Special POCSO Judge Maheshwar Dubey sent him on 14-day judicial custody.
Nandan Yadav's father arrested in 23-year-old double murder case
Meanwhile, the police have achieved another breakthrough while investigating the molestation case. The arrest of Nandan Yadav, the prime accused in the Jamui molestation case, has also led to his father's arrest in a 23-year-old double murder case.
In 2003, two brothers were murdered in Pratappur village of Bihar's Jamui. The deceased, DP Yadav and Pune Yadav, were killed in a business dispute. Their mother had named Ganori Yadav, Nandan's father, as an accused.
However, Ganori had been on the run for the last 23 years. It was the investigation of the recent molestation case that police stumbled upon Ganori. The police extracted information about him from Nandan and made a thorough check into his criminal past. Subsequently, Ganori was arrested.
Ganori's arrest came days after Nandan was arrested for assaulting a Class 10 boy and harassing his minor friend on a road.
Nandan was shot in a leg while he was trying to escape from police custody. So far, five accused have been arrested in the case, that shook the nation after a video of the assault went viral.
