Meerut Blue Drum Case: In a major development in the sensational 'blue drum' murder case, in which Merchant Navy worker Saurabh Rajput was killed and his body dismembered, a district court in Uttar Pradesh pronounced a verdict on Wednesday, convicting key accused Muskan Rastogi and her lover Sahil Shukla.

Muskan and Sahil have been declared guilty via video conferencing in court. The Meerut District Court Judge Arvind Kumar Mishra has found them guilty.

The accused Muskan, along with her boyfriend Sahil, conspired to murder her husband Saurabh Rajput and hid his body in a blue drum. 22 witnesses were presented in court.


Now, the court will hear arguments on the quantum of sentence, which will be pronounced after 15 days.

Senior prosecution officer KK Chaubey said that all prosecution witnesses had been examined and the prosecution had sought stringent punishment for the accused.

According to the jail superintendent, changes have been noticed in the behaviour of both accused ahead of the verdict. Sahil has remained quiet and withdrawn for the past four days and has not been interacting much with others. Both accused have also been spending considerable time in prayer over the past three days, he said.

Security arrangements were tightened at the court complex ahead of the verdict. City Superintendent of Police Vinayak Bhosle said additional police personnel had been deployed in and around the court premises.

Why Massive Outrage Over The Murder Case

According to the prosecution, Muskan allegedly drugged her husband and, with Sahil's help, stabbed him to death in March, 2025. The prosecution has alleged that after the murder, the accused dismembered Rajput's body, placed the remains in a blue plastic drum and sealed it with cement.

Police said the two accused subsequently fled to Himachal Pradesh's tourist place and were arrested a fortnight later. The nature of case had triggered widespread public anger. On March 19, 2025, when the accused were produced before a court amid tight security, an agitated group of lawyers allegedly assaulted Sahil. The case pertains to the Brahmpuri police station area of Meerut.
