Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday marked 25 years in public service at the ‘Seva Jyoti’ event, organised by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Delhi. Reflecting on his journey of serving the people, PM Modi expressed gratitude to people for their continued trust. Paying tribute to India’s democracy and Constitution, PM Modi said his commitment has always been driven by a larger mission rather than personal ambition, while outlining his vision for a developed and self-reliant India.

PM Modi Reflects On 25-Year Journey In Public Service

Addressing the party workers, PM Modi said that when he took oath as the Chief Minister of Gujarat on October 7, 2001, he had never imagined that he would reach such a milestone in public service. He recalled that 25 years ago, he was working among tribal communities, living in forests and mountains, and later chose to work for the BJP as an organisational worker.

He added that the journey of 25 years is not a matter of personal achievement or glory for him. According to him, the values he learned from childhood taught him to dedicate his life to a larger mission rather than personal ambition.

Here's a look at top quotes from PM Modi's speech:

"The people have always chosen me to serve them. Today, I pay tribute to India's democracy and its Constitution. I also extend my heartfelt appreciation to all the citizens participating in the 'Seva Jyoti Yatra'. This morning I visited the Sri Vinayaka Temple to offer prayers. I prayed to the Almighty for the nation for the 1.4 billion people of India and for myself as well. My prayer was that the Almighty grant me the strength and capability to work for my country with even greater energy,” PM Modi said.

"Today, I have completed 25 years of continuously serving as Head of Government. This is the blessing of the people. I bow before the people of the country," PM Modi said.

PM Modi's 'Will Do It' Call For Viksit Bharat 2047

"Viksit Bharat by 2047, we will do it! Aatmanirbhar bharat! Global Manufacturing hub! Hosting of the Olympics! Stepping into Space! This energy and confidence are incredible," said PM Modi.

PM Modi said, "Speaking as the head of the government—this continuous journey of twenty-five years—people view it as an achievement. But how do I see it? For me, this is not a matter of personal glorification, nor is it the occasion for it. 25 years ago, at the age of 50, I had spent my time serving tribal communities in the forests and living amidst the mountains, eventually choosing the path of organizational work within the Bharatiya Janata Party. My political report card reflected only the work of an organizational worker."

"I had been involved in elections, yet I had never contested one myself. Had I desired to shine in electoral politics, I could have entered the arena long ago; but that was not my temperament. I never even stopped to consider what I would become in life or what my future held. This was because the upbringing and values instilled in me since childhood taught me to live my life for a mission, not for personal ambition," added PM Modi.

Referring to recent flydubai plane incident, PM Modi said, "Today there is a talk about the Indian pilot across the globe. A day will come and indeed it will, when the world will speak of “Made-in-India” plane. These goals can only be achieved if we formulate visionary policies while also putting in the utmost hard work...This is not the time to rest; it is the time to move forward with zeal and dedicate ourselves fully to the nation."

"Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas has been the foundation of good governance for me. Our country has faced a major tragedy: society was divided along vote-bank lines for the sake of politics. If water does not reach the fields, who suffers? Are farmers of only one caste affected by this? If there is no electricity, does darkness prevail in the homes of only one community? The answer to all these questions is 'no'. If the problem affects everyone, the solution must also be for everyone," PM Modi emphasised.
