Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday launched a scathing attack on Congress over recent protests with the Left organisations. He also targeted Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, saying who knows how long the grand old party will keep staking the country on the launch of its "failed product". PM Modi, while speaking at the NDTV World Summit 2026, took a swipe at Congress, citing Sriharikota, which is the primary spaceport operated by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).
"Congress has become a parasite that refuses to let anyone progress. The Dimagi Naxals have influenced the Congress party’s thinking to such an extent that it has lost its ability to think for itself," the Bharatiya Janata Party posted on X, quoting PM Modi.
"In a whole year, we don't have as many launches from our Sriharikota as the Congress people make failed attempts to launch their leader in just one year," he jabbed at the grand old party.
Some People Are Dreaming Of Disorder In India: PM Modi
"While the world is searching for a New Order, some people are dreaming of Disorder in India. Today, when there is so much chaos in the world, the image of a strong India should be known globally. But these people are hell-bent on spoiling India's reputation. These people go abroad and defame India. They urge foreigners to intervene. Who knows how long the Congress will keep staking the country on the launch of its failed product," he said.
Those who once wreaked havoc in the jungles have now entered the Congress party and are determined to destroy the country, he added.
Congress' Push To Put Rahul Gandhi At Centre Of Anti-CEC Stir
PM Modi's criticism of Gandhi came at a time when the Congress has been attempting to put him in the spotlight during protests against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged "vote chori". Recently, Gandhi led agitations against the poll body, which resulted in his brief police detention.
The Leader of the Opposition was also detained by Delhi Police on July 21 after staging a sudden sit-in protest near the Prime Minister's residence. Additionally, Congress has been launching a series of events under the 'Chhatron Ki Goonj' campaign as part of a student outreach initiative over the issues linked to competitive exam paper leaks, unemployment, and education system reforms. However, the BJP dismissed these events as merely another attempt to relaunch Gandhi.
