Jagran Correspondent, Vrindavan: A chilling detail has emerged in the mysterious death of Deepak Lodhi, a disciple of spiritual leader Premanand Maharaj who was also known as Rasik Dulari. Investigators reportedly found that the deceased had suffered a severe injury to his private parts.
Rasik Dulari Sharan allegedly died by suicide on Friday around 10:30 am after jumping from the fourth-floor roof of Guru Kripa Kunj Ashram on Barah Ghat Marg in Vrindavan. According to his postmortem report, he died due to excessive blood loss.
Deepak Lodha was a resident of Narmada Basti Farhaduli, Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, who came to Vrindavan two years ago and took initiation from Saint Premanand Maharaj. After this, he changed his name to Rasik Dulari Sharan. After this, he was living in Vrindavan and leading the life of a saint.
Chilling Details Emerge
According to CO Sandeep Kumar, Deepak sustained multiple injuries in the fall, which may have resulted in significant bleeding. However, the officer said that medical experts would be able to establish the exact cause of the excessive blood loss.
According to Jagran.com, CCTV footage captured the incident for around 11 minutes. Rasik reportedly left his room at around 10:25 am and was later seen heading towards the fourth-floor terrace, with his clothes stained with blood, reportedly due to an injury to his genitals. He reportedly remained outside the room for some time before going to the fourth-floor terrace, where he sat for a while. He then lay down on the ground for around 10 seconds before suddenly getting up and allegedly jumping from the terrace at around 10:36 am.
Injuries were also found on the deceased’s head, hands, legs, and shoulders, which may have been caused by the alleged genital injury and the subsequent fall from a great height. A toe bone of the deceased’s foot was fractured. He also suffered serious injuries to his hands and head.
Police have seized the DVRs from the CCTV cameras installed in the apartment. They have also sent blood samples and the deceased’s mobile phone for forensic examination. Police suspect that if he deleted any videos, photos, or chats before his death, the forensic examination could provide clarity on whether the deleted data can be recovered.
During the investigation, police reportedly recovered a tile-cutting grinder from Deepak’s room. Investigators suspect that he may have used the machine to inflict a severe injury on his private parts before his death.
Sant Premanand Maharaj's Popularity
Sant Premanand Maharaj is widely known and has a large following, including Bollywood celebrities and cricketers who visit him to seek his darshan. According to Jagran.com, his disciples have also remained at the centre of controversies over the years. There have reportedly been differences among them, with some allegedly seeking to portray themselves as the spiritual leader’s closest disciples.
There have also been reports of disagreements and conflicts among the disciples. However, the ashram management has neither confirmed nor denied such reports. During Sant Premanand’s padayatras outside the ashram, videos purportedly showing some disciples behaving rudely with followers standing along the roadside have also circulated on social media.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Sant Premanand came into the limelight after Indian cricketer Virat Kohli and his wife, Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma, visited him at his Shri Radha Keli Kunj Ashram.
Following the visit, Sant Premanand’s popularity grew massively, with videos of his going viral on the internet. Soon after his popularity, alleged disputes among his disciples began. One of his disciples was also accused of illegally carrying out plotting in the Yamuna Khadar area.
In another incident, a fire broke out in a flat at Shri Krishnam Sharanam Apartment, where Sant Premanand had previously lived. Several documents were reportedly destroyed in the fire. The ashram did not issue a statement regarding the incident, while discussions about alleged disputes among the disciples continued.
Since May 18, Sant Premanand has stopped undertaking his padayatra. He is reportedly living in a private location along the Yamuna. From time to time, there have been reports about the possibility of him resuming his padayatra.
