Tiger Shroff Firing Incident: The Delhi Police Special Cell has arrested four people, including two women, who were involved in supplying arms to the shooters, on Tuesday in connection with the firing incident targeting Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff. On Wednesday, the mother of Sumit, one of the four people arrested, has alleged that her son was innocent and had no connection to the incident. Speaking to reporters, she said that her son is being framed.
Sumit's Mother Says He Went To Khatu Shyam
She said that the 19-year-old Sumit went to Khatu Shyam temple in Rajasthan and had no involvement in the firing incident or any supply of weapons. Police arrested Sumit and Kunal (21) from Sonipat on October 20. The other two accused, Radha, 23, and Babita, 23, were detained at New Delhi Railway Station. All of them were formally arrested by the Maharashtra Police's Crime Investigation Department (CID) and remanded for transit to Mumbai for further investigation.
Mother Questions Circumstances of Arrest
Speaking about her son’s arrest, Sumit’s mother said the police took him away claiming they wanted to question him about a dispute. She alleged that the officers did not tell her at first which case he was being linked to.
“My son works at a clothing shop and has been working there for around three years. He has studied till Class 9. He had told me that he was going to Khatu Shyam,” she said. She also said that Sumit had returned home early in the morning after the visit.
She further alleged that her son also made a video call from Khatu Shyam and the family had his call records. Sumit never travelled to Mumbai, the mother said.
Mother Alleges Sumit Was Misled
Sumit’s mother named a local acquaintance, Nitin, whom she alleged had introduced her son to the people involved in the case. She said the family did not know much about the alleged network and said that Sumit had been misled.
“He has nothing to do with this. He was misled,” she said, denying any knowledge of an inducement offered to her son. She added that Sumit mostly watched reels and YouTube videos on his phone and had never stayed away from home for long periods.
His mother said the family depended on daily-wage labour and lived in a rented house. She also appealed to the government to secure her son’s release.
