New Delhi: The Delhi Commission of Women (DCW) has issued a notice to Delhi Police after it received a complaint regarding the selling of objectionable images of Hindu goddesses online. The complainant alleged that some miscreants were selling obscene pictures on Hindu goddesses online and that he has been receiving emails regarding the same. The emails reportedly also contained sample images of goddesses portrayed in an obscene manner, said the DCW statement.
DCW chairperson, Swati Maliwal, issued a notice to Delhi Police and sought a report on the action taken in the case. The commision has further sought a copy of FIR along with details of people arrested in the case and actions taken by Delhi Police to delete the content from the internet.
"The act is extremely disrespectful and has the potential of hurting religious sentiments and causing enmity among groups. This is a very serious matter. An FIR must be registered immediately and the accused should be arrested. The objectionable content must be removed from the internet immediately," Maliwal said.
